प्रज्वलन्तं तमासाद्य क्षिप्रमेवावशेषितम् । प्राविशत्सङ्कुलं तत्र शलभा इव पावकम् । नश्यति स्म बलं तत्र हव्यं हुतमिवानले ॥ 7-19-16 ॥
and having reached that blazing army of Ravana, which was soon reduced to a mere remnant, that host entered into it in throngs, as moths enter a flame; and there the army perished, like an oblation offered into the fire.
english translation
सो ऽपश्यत्तन्नरेन्द्रस्तु नश्यमानं महाबलम् । महार्णवं समासाद्य वनापगशतं यथा ॥ 7-19-17 ॥
Then that king beheld his great army being destroyed, just as a hundred forest streams are lost upon reaching the great ocean.
english translation
ततः शक्रधनुःप्रख्यं धनुर्विस्फारयन्स्वयम् । आससाद नरेन्द्रस्तं रावणं क्रोधमूर्च्छितः ॥ 7-19-18 ॥
Thereupon the king himself, drawing his bow which resembled the bow of Indra, and stupefied with rage, advanced against that Ravana.

अनरण्येन ते ऽमात्या मारीचशुकसारणाः । प्रहस्तसहिता भग्ना व्यद्रवन्त मृगा इव ॥ 7-19-19 ॥
By Anaranya his ministers Marica, Shuka, and Sarana, together with Prahasta, were shattered and fled away like deer.
english translation
ततो बाणशतान्यष्टौ पातयामास मूर्धनि । तस्य राक्षसराजस्य इक्ष्वाकुकुलनन्दनः ॥ 7-19-20 ॥
Then the delight of the Ikshvaku race made eight hundred arrows fall upon the head of that king of the Rakshasas.
