धर्मराजो ऽब्रवीद्राम प्राग्वंशे वायसं स्थितम् । पक्षिंस्तवास्मि सुप्रीतः प्रीतस्य वचनं शृणु ॥ 7-18-26 ॥
O Rama, Dharmaraja (Yama) said to the crow perched on the front of the sacrificial hall, 'O bird, I am well pleased with you; hear the words of one who is pleased.'
english translation
यथान्ये विविधै रोगै; पीड्यन्ते प्राणिनो मया । ते न ते प्रभविष्यन्ति मयि प्रीते न संशयः ॥ 7-18-27 ॥
'As other living creatures are afflicted by me with various diseases, those diseases shall have no power over you, since I am pleased — of this there is no doubt.'
english translation
मृत्युतस्ते भयं नास्ति वरान्मम विहङ्गम । यावत्त्वां न वधिष्यन्ति नरास्तावद्भविष्यसि ॥ 7-18-28 ॥
'You have no fear of death, O bird, by my boon; as long as men do not slay you, so long shall you live.'
english translation
एते मद्विषयस्था वै मानवाः क्षुद्भयार्दिताः । त्वयि भुक्ते तु तृप्तास्ते भविष्यन्ति सबान्धवाः ॥ 7-18-29 ॥
These men dwelling within my domain are tormented by the fear of hunger; but when you have eaten, they together with their kinsmen shall be satisfied.
english translation
वरुणस्त्वब्रवीद्धंसं गङ्गातोयविहारिणम् । श्रूयतां प्रीतिसंयुक्तं वचः पत्ररथेश्वर ॥ 7-18-30 ॥
Then Varuna said to the swan that sports in the waters of the Ganga: "Hear my words spoken with affection, O lord of the winged ones."
