अथ लोकेश्वरोत्सृष्टा तत्र कालेन केनचित् । निद्रा समभवत्तीव्रा कुम्भकर्णस्य रूपिणी ॥ 7-13-1 ॥

Now, after some time, a fierce sleep, sent forth by the Lord of the worlds and taking embodied form, came upon Kumbhakarna.

english translation

ततो भ्रातरमासीनं कुम्भकर्णो ऽब्रवीद्वचः । निद्रा मां बाधते राजन्कारयस्व ममालयम् ॥ 7-13-2 ॥

Then Kumbhakarna spoke these words to his brother who was seated there: "Sleep oppresses me, O king; have a dwelling made for me."

english translation

विनियुक्तास्ततो राज्ञा शिल्पिनो विश्वकर्मवत् । विस्तीर्णं योजनं शुभ्रं ततो द्विगुणमायतम् ॥ 7-13-3 ॥

Thereupon craftsmen, skilled like Vishvakarma, were appointed by the king; a yojana broad, gleaming white, and twice that in length,

english translation

दर्शनीयं निराबाधं कुम्भकर्णस्य चक्रिरे । स्फाटिकैः काञ्चनैश्चित्रैः स्तम्भैः सर्वत्र शोभितम् ॥ 7-13-4 ॥

beautiful to behold and free from all disturbance, they fashioned for Kumbhakarna, everywhere adorned with pillars of crystal and gold and of varied design.

english translation

वैडूर्यकृतसोपानं किङ्किणीजालकं तथा । दान्ततोरणविन्यस्तं वज्रस्फटिकवेदिकम् ॥ 7-13-5 ॥

That palace had stairways made of lapis lazuli and a network of little bells, gateways inlaid with ivory, and platforms of diamond and crystal.
