Phaladeepika
दुःस्थानमष्टमरिपुव्ययभावमाहुऊ सुस्थानमन्यभवनं शुभदं प्रदिष्टम् । प्राहुर्विलग्नदशसप्तचतुर्थभानि केन्द्रं हि कण्तकचतुष्टयनामयुक्तम् ॥ १७॥
The 8 th, the 6 th and the 12 th houses are known as Dussthanas or houses of evil. The rest are termed good houses and will be propitious to the native. The 1 st, the 10 th, the 7 th and the 4 th houses are known by the terms Kendra , Kantaka , and Chatushtaya .

duHsthAnamaSTamaripuvyayabhAvamAhuU susthAnamanyabhavanaM zubhadaM pradiSTam । prAhurvilagnadazasaptacaturthabhAni kendraM hi kaNtakacatuSTayanAmayuktam ॥ 17॥
