क्षीणवृत्तेरभिजातस्येव मणेर्ग्रहीतृग्रहणग्राह्येषु तत्स्थतदञ्जनतासमापत्तिः॥१-४१॥
When the Rajasic and Tamasic vrittis of the seeker become calm. Then his Chitta becomes pure and pure like Sphatika (a crystal gem of high quality).Then Chitta unites with soul,senses, and gross elements. This stage is known as Samapatti(engrossment).

जब साधक की राजसिक व तामसिक वृत्तियाँ शान्त हो जाती हैं । तब उसका चित्त उच्च कोटि की स्फटिक मणि के समान निर्मल व पवित्र हो जाता है । जिससे वह जीवात्मा, इन्द्रियों व पंचभूतों के स्वरूप में स्थित होकर उन्ही के जैसा हो जाता है । यह अवस्था समापत्ति कहलाती है ।

तत्र शब्दार्थज्ञानविकल्पैः संकीर्णा सवितर्का समापत्तिः॥१-४२॥
When the yogi's mind sees the word-meaning and knowledge separately, that is, sees all three separately, this is called Savitarka Samapatti.

जब योगी के चित्त मे शब्द-अर्थ एवं ज्ञान को अलग अलग साक्षात्कार करता है अर्थात तीनों को पृथक देखता है, यही सवितर्क समापत्ति कहलाती है ।

स्मृतिपरिशुद्धौ स्वरूपशून्येवार्थमात्रनिर्भासा निर्वितर्का॥१-४३॥
When the memory becomes pure i.e. devoid of words and knowledge, and the meaning of the goal is visible is known as Nirvitarka .

स्मृति के शुद्ध अर्थात शब्द और ज्ञान से रहित हो जाने पर केवल ध्येय के अर्थ मात्र को प्रत्यक्ष कराने वाली चित्त की स्थिति ही; निर्वितर्क समाधि है ।

एतयैव सविचारा निर्विचारा च सूक्ष्मविषया व्याख्याता॥१-४४॥
The meaning of this sutra is the same as that of the previous sutra. The way Savitarka and Nirvitarka were described. In exactly the same way, his subtle subject has been described as Savichara and Nirvichara.

इस सूत्र का अर्थ इससे पहले वाले सूत्र के अनुसार ही है । जिस प्रकार सवितर्क और निर्वितर्क समापत्तियों का वर्णन किया गया था । ठीक उसी प्रकार से उनके सूक्ष्म विषय को सविचार और निर्विचार का वर्णन किया है ।
