व्याधिग्रस्ते जरार्ते च भयार्ते शीतविप्लुते । मत्ते प्रमत्ते चोन्मत्ते चिन्तायां तपसि स्थिते ॥ १७८॥

In states of illness, old age, fear, extreme cold, intoxication, madness, confusion, and during meditation or austerities, hand gestures should not be used.
