अलपद्मावुल्बनौ च ललितौ वलितौ तथा । सप्तषष्टिकरा ह्येते नामतोऽभिहिता मया ॥ १७॥
Alapadma, Ulbaṇa, Lalita, and Valita—these sixty-seven hand gestures have been named by me.

यथा लक्षणमेतेषां कर्माणि च निबोधत । प्रसारिताः समाः सर्वा यस्याङ्गुल्यो भवन्ति हि । कुञ्चितश्च तथाङ्गुष्ठः स पताक इति स्मृतः ॥ १८॥
Now understand the characteristics and applications of these gestures. The hand in which all fingers are extended straight and close together, with the thumb bent, is known as Patāka.

एष प्रहारपाते प्रतापन नोदने प्रहर्षे च । गर्वेऽप्यहमिति तज्ज्ञैललाटदेशोत्थितः कार्यः ॥ १९॥
This hand is to be used for striking, scorching heat, urging, joy, and arrogance, and should be raised to the forehead, as prescribed by experts.

एषोऽग्निवर्षधारानिरूपणे पुष्पवृष्टिपतने च । संयुतकरणः कार्यः प्रविरलचलिताङ्गुलिर्हस्तः ॥ २०॥
This hand, with fingers slightly spread and moving, should be used in combination to represent blazing fire, falling rain, and a shower of flowers.
