विवर्तनं कटाक्षस्तु समुद्वृत्तं समुन्नतिः । निष्क्रामो निर्गमः प्रोक्तः प्राकृतं तु स्वभावजम् ॥ १०१॥
Vivartana (turning)—turning the eyeballs sideways in a sidelong glance. Samudvṛtta (raising up)—raising up of the eyeballs. Niṣkramaṇa (going out)—going out ॥ as it were of the eyeballs.॥ Prākṛta (natural)—eyeballs in the natural (glance.)
english translation
vivartanaM kaTAkSastu samudvRttaM samunnatiH । niSkrAmo nirgamaH proktaH prAkRtaM tu svabhAvajam ॥ 101॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptअथैषां रसभावेषु विनियोगं निबोधत । भ्रमणं चलनोद्वृत्ते निष्क्रामो वीररौद्रयोः ॥ १०२॥

athaiSAM rasabhAveSu viniyogaM nibodhata । bhramaNaM calanodvRtte niSkrAmo vIraraudrayoH ॥ 102॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptनिष्क्रामणं संवलनं कर्तव्यं तु भयानके । हास्यबीभत्सयोश्चापि प्रवेशनमिहेष्यते ॥ १०३॥
Niṣkramaṇa (going out), and Valana (turning of the eyeballs)—in the Terrible Sentiment. Saṃpraveśana (drawing of the eyeball)—in the Comic and the Odious Sentiments.

niSkrAmaNaM saMvalanaM kartavyaM tu bhayAnake । hAsyabIbhatsayozcApi pravezanamiheSyate ॥ 103॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptपातनं करुणे कार्यं निष्क्रामणमथाद्भुते । प्राकृतं शेषभावेषु शृङ्गारे च विवर्तितम् ॥ १०४॥
Pātana (relaxed eyeballs) in the Pathetic Sentiment. Niṣkramaṇa (going out of the eyeballs)—in the Marvellous Sentiment. Prākṛta (natural) eyeballs—in the remaining Sentiments (lit. States). Vivartana (turning sideways of the eyeball)—in the Erotic Sentiment.

pAtanaM karuNe kAryaM niSkrAmaNamathAdbhute । prAkRtaM zeSabhAveSu zaRGgAre ca vivartitam ॥ 104॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptस्वभावसिद्धमेवैतत् कर्मं लोकक्रियाश्रयम् । एवं रसेषु भावेषु ताराकर्माणि योजयेत् ॥ १०५॥
These are the natures of eyeballs based on the popular practice. They are to be applied ॥ suitably॥ to all the different States.
