अत्रोपभोगतस्ते तु मानुषीषु मामात्मजाः । बद्धवन्तोऽधिकस्नेहं तासु तद् द्विजसत्तमाः ॥ २१ ॥

Here, O best of the brāhmaṇas, my sons, being inclined towards indulgence, have attached themselves to human women with great affection.

english translation

atropabhogataste tu mAnuSISu mAmAtmajAH | baddhavanto'dhikasnehaM tAsu tad dvijasattamAH || 21 ||

पुत्रानुत्पाद्य वध्वा च प्रयोगं च यथाक्रमम् । ब्रह्मणा समनुज्ञाताः प्राप्ताः स्वर्गं पुनः सुताः ॥ २२ ॥

Having begotten sons and performed the rite with the daughter-in-law, they, with Brahmā's permission, ascended to heaven once again.

putrAnutpAdya vadhvA ca prayogaM ca yathAkramam | brahmaNA samanujJAtAH prAptAH svargaM punaH sutAH || 22 ||

एवमुर्वीतले नाट्यं शिष्यैः समवतारितम् । भरतानां च वंशोऽयं भविष्यं च प्रवर्तितः ॥ २३ ॥

Thus, the drama was brought down to the earth by the disciples. The lineage of the Bharatas was established, and the future began to unfold.

कोहलादिभिरेवं तु वत्सशाण्डिल्यधूर्तितैः । मत्यधर्मक्रियायुक्तैः कश्चित्कालमवस्थितैः ॥ २४ ॥

Thus, by Kohila and others, by Vatsa, Śāṇḍilya, and Dhūrti, and by those engaged in the practices of mental discipline, some remained for a time.

एतच्छात्रं प्रणीतं हि नाराणां बुद्धिवर्धनम् । त्रैलोक्यस्य क्रियोपेतं सर्वशास्त्रनिदर्शनम् । मङ्गल्यं ललितं चैव ब्रह्मणो वदनोद्भवम् ॥ २५ ॥

This treatise is composed for the enhancement of human intellect, for the activities of the three worlds, for the illustration of all scriptures, auspicious and charming, born from the mouth of Brahmā.

etacchAtraM praNItaM hi nArANAM buddhivardhanam | trailokyasya kriyopetaM sarvazAstranidarzanam | maGgalyaM lalitaM caiva brahmaNo vadanodbhavam || 25 ||
