सम्पिष्टमन्ताहरणं माहाजनिकमेव च । ध्रुवाणामङ्गसञ्ज्ञानि पञ्चानामपि नित्यशः ॥ ६॥
Saṃpiṣṭaka, Antāharaṇa, and Mahājanika are also counted as limbs of the Dhruvās, and these apply permanently to all five types.

A song containing one Vastu is called a Dhruvā; one with two Vastus is a Parigītikā; one with three is known as a Madraka; and one with four Vastus is a Catuṣpadā.

ekavastu dhruvA jJeyA dvivastu parigItikA । trivastu madra kaM jJeyaM caturvastu catuSpadA ॥ 7॥

Words, syllables, embellishments, pauses, hand-beats, and tempo are all mutually connected in it; therefore it is known as a Dhruvā.

In the Prāveśikī Dhruvā are included the Upaghāta and Pravṛtta; and in the Śīrṣikā Dhruvā one should indicate the Vajra and the Śīrṣaka.
