Natyashastra
त्र्यस्रश्च चतुरस्रश्च स तालो द्विविधः स्मृतः । द्विविधस्यापि तालस्य त्वेका प्रकृतिरिष्यते ॥ ७॥
The Tāla is of two kinds: Caturasra (lit. four-cornered) and Tryasra (lit. three-cornered); but the origin of these two kinds, is the same.
