अथार्धेऽन्ते च मात्राणां पञ्चानां पात इष्यते । तालः शम्यार्धतालश्च शम्यातालस्तथैव च ॥ २९१॥
At the latter half and end of the five Mātrās, a Pāta should occur. It will consist of Tāla, Śamyā, half Tāla, and Śamyā-Tāla in the same order.
english translation
athArdhe'nte ca mAtrANAM paJcAnAM pAta iSyate । tAlaH zamyArdhatAlazca zamyAtAlastathaiva ca ॥ 291॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptपञ्चानामपि मात्राणां विधिरेष यथाक्रमम् । चतुर्दशोऽपि पञ्चम्या मात्रायास्ताल इष्यते ॥ २९२॥
The rule for the five Mātrās is as follows in proper order: In the fifth Mātrā, fourteen Tālas are to be observed.

paJcAnAmapi mAtrANAM vidhireSa yathAkramam । caturdazo'pi paJcamyA mAtrAyAstAla iSyate ॥ 292॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptचतुष्कलाऽन्त्यया तुल्या षष्ठी मद्रकमात्रया । इति पादस्तथाष्टौ च कलापादादुपोहनम् ॥ २९३॥
The last (fourth) Kalā is equal to the sixth Mātrā of the Madraka. Thus, for the Pāda, there should be eight Kalās in the Upohana of the Kalā-pāda.

catuSkalA'ntyayA tulyA SaSThI madrakamAtrayA । iti pAdastathASTau ca kalApAdAdupohanam ॥ 293॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptततश्चैव प्रयोक्तव्यं द्विकलं प्रत्युपोहनम् । घातश्चेत्सन्निपातश्च विवधैकप्रयोजिताः ॥ २९४॥
Then, a two-Kalā Pratyupohana should be performed. The Ghāta and Sannipāta should be applied, each using a single Vivadha.

tatazcaiva prayoktavyaM dvikalaM pratyupohanam । ghAtazcetsannipAtazca vivadhaikaprayojitAH ॥ 294॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptवर्णानुकर्षोऽष्टकलः स्वल्पः प्रस्तार इष्यते । तुल्यवर्णोपनहनो द्वितीयः पाद इष्यते ॥ २९५॥
The extension of the Varṇas should be eight Kalās, with a short Prastāra. For the second Pāda, there should be an equal extension of Varṇas.

varNAnukarSo'STakalaH svalpaH prastAra iSyate । tulyavarNopanahano dvitIyaH pAda iSyate ॥ 295॥
