Natyashastra
कार्यस्य सन्निपातोऽपि षट्कलः षट्कलस्तु तालः स्यात् । द्विकला च पुनः शम्या चतुष्कलः स्यात्पुनस्तालः ॥ १६४॥
The Sannipāta of the performance should also consist of six Kalās, and the Tala will be of six Kalās. Then again, with the Dvi-Kalā, the Samyā of four Kalās should be performed, and the Tala follows accordingly.
