Then comes Sannipāta, followed by Śamyā, Tāla, and again Śamyā; or alternatively, Śamyā, Tāla, Śamyā, Tāla. These are to be known respectively as Sannipātādi and Śamyādi types.
The Cañcatpuṭa is again of three kinds beginning respectively with Tāla, Śamyā, and Sannipāta. The type beginning with Śamyā is to be applied by experts in songs like the Āsārita and others.
The type beginning with Tāla is similarly mentioned by the learned as applicable in Pāṇikā and other songs. The varieties of the Cañcatpuṭa are thus said to be the Sannipātādi and the others.
These same are to be known by the wise as the types of the Cañcatpuṭa. Among them, the Sannipātādi is the strongest, while the others are comparatively weaker.
