देवानां वचनं श्रुत्वा ब्रह्मा विघ्नानुवाच ह । कस्माद्भवन्तो नाट्यस्य विनाशाय समुत्थिताः ॥ १०१॥
After hearing the words of the gods, Brahma spoke to the obstacles: 'Why have you arisen to destroy the drama?'
english translation
devAnAM vacanaM zrutvA brahmA vighnAnuvAca ha | kasmAdbhavanto nATyasya vinAzAya samutthitAH || 101||

ब्रह्मणो वचनं श्रुत्वा विरूपाक्षोऽब्रवीद्वचः । दैत्यैर्विघ्नगणैः सार्धं सामपूर्वमिदं ततः ॥ १०२॥
After hearing Brahma's words, Virupaksha (Shiva) spoke: 'Together with the demons and the group of obstacles, this should be performed with the same rhythm as the previous one.
brahmaNo vacanaM zrutvA virUpAkSo'bravIdvacaH | daityairvighnagaNaiH sArdhaM sAmapUrvamidaM tataH || 102||

योऽयं भगवता सृष्टो नाट्यवेदः सुरेच्छया । प्रत्यादेशोऽयमस्माकं सुरार्थं भवता कृतः ॥ १०३॥
This drama, which was created by the Lord with divine intent, was instructed by Him for the benefit of the gods.
yo'yaM bhagavatA sRSTo nATyavedaH surecchayA | pratyAdezo'yamasmAkaM surArthaM bhavatA kRtaH || 103||

तन्नैतदेवं कर्तव्यं त्वया लोकपितामह । यथा देवस्तथा दैत्यास्त्वत्तः सर्वे विनिर्गताः ॥ १०४॥
"O grandfather of the world, this should not be done by you. Just as the gods are, so have all the demons departed from you."
tannaitadevaM kartavyaM tvayA lokapitAmaha | yathA devastathA daityAstvattaH sarve vinirgatAH || 104||

विघ्नानां वचनं श्रुत्वा ब्रह्मा वचनमब्रवीत् । अलं वो मन्युना दैत्या विषादं त्यजतानघाः ॥ १०५॥
"Having heard the words of the obstacles, Brahma spoke: 'Enough, O demons, give up your anger and abandon your sorrow, O sinless ones.'"
vighnAnAM vacanaM zrutvA brahmA vacanamabravIt | alaM vo manyunA daityA viSAdaM tyajatAnaghAH || 105||
