एषोऽनापदि वर्णानामुक्तः कर्मविधिः शुभः । आपद्यपि हि यस्तेषां क्रमशस्तन्निबोधत ॥ ३३६ ॥

The excellent law for the conduct of the (four) castes (varna), (when they are) not in distress, has been thus promulgated; now hear in order their (several duties) in times of distress.

english translation

eSo'nApadi varNAnAmuktaH karmavidhiH zubhaH | Apadyapi hi yasteSAM kramazastannibodhata || 336 ||
