Manusmriti
न द्रव्याणामविज्ञाय विधिं धर्म्यं प्रतिग्रहे । प्राज्ञः प्रतिग्रहं कुर्यादवसीदन्नपि क्षुधा ॥ १८७ ॥
Without a full knowledge of the rules, prescribed by the sacred law for the acceptance of presents, a wise man should not take anything, even though he may pine with hunger.
english translation
na dravyANAmavijJAya vidhiM dharmyaM pratigrahe । prAjJaH pratigrahaM kuryAdavasIdannapi kSudhA ॥ 187 ॥
