हविर्यच्चिररात्राय यच्चानन्त्याय कल्पते । पितृभ्यो विधिवद् दत्तं तत् प्रवक्ष्याम्यशेषतः ॥ २६६ ॥

तिलैर्व्रीहियवैर्माषैरद्भिर्मूलफलेन वा । दत्तेन मासं तृप्यन्ति विधिवत् पितरो नृणाम् ॥ २६७ ॥
The ancestors of men are satisfied for one month with sesamum grains, rice, barley, masha beans, water, roots, and fruits, which have been given according to the prescribed rule,

द्वौ मासौ मत्स्यमांसेन त्रीन् मासान् हारिणेन तु । अउरभ्रेणाथ चतुरः शाकुनेनाथ पञ्च वै ॥ २६८ ॥
Two months with fish, three months with the meat of gazelles, four with mutton, and five indeed with the flesh of birds,

षण्मासांश्छागमांसेन पार्षतेन च सप्त वै । अष्टावेनस्य मांसेन रौरवेण नवैव तु ॥ २६९ ॥
Six months with the flesh of goats, seven with that of spotted deer, eight with that of the black antelope, but nine with that of the (deer called) Ruru,

दशमासांस्तु तृप्यन्ति वराहमहिषामिषैः । शशकूर्मयोस्तु मांसेन मासानेकादशैव तु ॥ २७० ॥
