नैत्यके नास्त्यनध्यायो ब्रह्मसत्रं हि तत् स्मृतम् । ब्रह्माहुतिहुतं पुण्यमनध्यायवषट् कृतम् ?? ॥ १०६ ॥

There are no forbidden days for the daily recitation, since that is declared to be a Brahmasattra (an everlasting sacrifice offered to Brahman); at that the Veda takes the place of the burnt oblations, and it is meritorious (even), when (natural phenomena, requiring) a cessation of the Veda-study, take the place of the exclamation Vashat.

naityake nAstyanadhyAyo brahmasatraM hi tat smRtam | brahmAhutihutaM puNyamanadhyAyavaSaT kRtam ?? || 106 ||

यः स्वाध्यायमधीतेऽब्दं विधिना नियतः शुचिः । तस्य नित्यं क्षरत्येष पयो दधि घृतं मधु ॥ १०७ ॥

For him who, being pure and controlling his organs, during a year daily recites the Veda according to the rule, that (daily recitation) will ever cause sweet and sour milk, clarified butter and honey to flow.

english translation

yaH svAdhyAyamadhIte'bdaM vidhinA niyataH zuciH | tasya nityaM kSaratyeSa payo dadhi ghRtaM madhu || 107 ||

अग्नीन्धनं भैक्षचर्यामधःशय्यां गुरोर्हितम् । आ समावर्तनात् कुर्यात् कृतोपनयनो द्विजः ॥ १०८ ॥

Let an Aryan who has been initiated, (daily) offer fuel in the sacred fire, beg food, sleep on the ground and do what is beneficial to this teacher, until (he performs the ceremony of) Samavartana (on returning home).

english translation

agnIndhanaM bhaikSacaryAmadhaHzayyAM gurorhitam | A samAvartanAt kuryAt kRtopanayano dvijaH || 108 ||

आचार्यपुत्रः शुश्रूषुर्ज्ञानदो धार्मिकः शुचिः । आप्तः शक्तोऽर्थदः साधुः स्वोऽध्याप्या दश धर्मतः ?? ॥ १०९ ॥

According to the sacred law the (following) ten (persons, viz.) the teacher’s son, one who desires to do service, one who imparts knowledge, one who is intent on fulfilling the law, one who is pure, a person connected by marriage or friendship, one who possesses (mental) ability, one who makes presents of money, one who is honest, and a relative, may be instructed (in the Veda).

AcAryaputraH zuzrUSurjJAnado dhArmikaH zuciH | AptaH zakto'rthadaH sAdhuH svo'dhyApyA daza dharmataH ?? || 109 ||

नापृष्टः कस्य चिद् ब्रूयान्न चान्यायेन पृच्छतः । जानन्नपि हि मेधावी जडवल्लोक आचरेत् ॥ ११० ॥

Unless one be asked, one must not explain (anything) to anybody, nor (must one answer) a person who asks improperly; let a wise man, though he knows (the answer), behave among men as (if he were) an idiot.

english translation

nApRSTaH kasya cid brUyAnna cAnyAyena pRcchataH | jAnannapi hi medhAvI jaDavalloka Acaret || 110 ||
