मेने कृतार्थमात्मानं हत्वा शत्रुं सुरारिहा । त्वष्टा प्रजापति: श्रुत्वा शक्रेणाथ हतं सुतम् । क्रोधसंरक्तनयन इदं वचनमत्रवीत् ॥ ५-९-४४ ॥
And the slayer of Asuras, having killed his foe, considered his object gained. Now when the lord of creatures, Twashtri, heard that his son had been slain by Indra, his eyes became red with ire, and he spoke the following words -

mene kRtArthamAtmAnaM hatvA zatruM surArihA । tvaSTA prajApati: zrutvA zakreNAtha hataM sutam । krodhasaMraktanayana idaM vacanamatravIt ॥ 5-9-44 ॥
