वृक्षान अङ्गारकारीव मैनान धाक्षीः समूलकान मा गमः ससुतामात्यः सबलश च पराभवम ।। २-५५-१६ ।।

sanskrit

'Do not scorch them to their roots like a fire that reduces everything to charcoal. O king, do not lead yourself, your sons, and your troops to ruin.' ।। 2-55-16 ।।

english translation

vRkSAna aGgArakArIva mainAna dhAkSIH samUlakAna mA gamaH sasutAmAtyaH sabalaza ca parAbhavama || 2-55-16 ||

समवेतान हि कः पार्थान परतियुध्येत भारत मरुद्भिः सहितॊ राजन्न अपि साक्षान मरुत्पतिः ।। २-५५-१७ ।।

'Who can stand against the sons of Pritha together? Not even the chief of the celestials, at the head of the gods, can claim to do so.' ।। 2-55-17 ।।

english translation

samavetAna hi kaH pArthAna paratiyudhyeta bhArata marudbhiH sahitò rAjanna api sAkSAna marutpatiH || 2-55-17 ||
