वृक्षान अङ्गारकारीव मैनान धाक्षीः समूलकान मा गमः ससुतामात्यः सबलश च पराभवम ॥ २-५५-१६ ॥
'Do not scorch them to their roots like a fire that reduces everything to charcoal. O king, do not lead yourself, your sons, and your troops to ruin.' ॥ 2-55-16 ॥
