संश्रुत्यॊदाहृतं वाक्यं भूतम अन्तर्हितं ततः पुत्रस्नेहाभिसंतप्ता जननी वाक्यम अब्रवीत ॥ २-४०-६ ॥

'Upon hearing this message, which revealed the truth and was hidden within the mother, overcome by her love for her son, spoke the following words:' ॥ 2-40-6 ॥

saMzrutyòdAhRtaM vAkyaM bhUtama antarhitaM tataH putrasnehAbhisaMtaptA jananI vAkyama abravIta ॥ 2-40-6 ॥

येनेदम ईरितं वाक्यं ममैव तनयं परति पराञ्जलिस तं नमस्यामि बरवीतु स पुनर वचः ॥ २-४०-७ ॥

'I revere the one who has spoken these words about my son, with folded hands. Let him speak again.' ॥ 2-40-7 ॥

yenedama IritaM vAkyaM mamaiva tanayaM parati parAJjalisa taM namasyAmi baravItu sa punara vacaH ॥ 2-40-7 ॥

शरॊतुम इच्छामि पुत्रस्य कॊ ऽसय मृत्युर भविष्यति अन्तर्हितं ततॊ भूतम उवाचेदं पुनर वचः ॥ २-४०-८ ॥

'Whether he be a divine being or any other entity, let him speak again. I wish to know who will be the slayer of my son.' ॥ 2-40-8 ॥

zaròtuma icchAmi putrasya kò 'saya mRtyura bhaviSyati antarhitaM tatò bhUtama uvAcedaM punara vacaH ॥ 2-40-8 ॥

येनॊत्सङ्गे गृहीतस्य भुजाव अभ्यधिकाव उभौ पतिष्यतः कषितितले पञ्चशीर्षाव इवॊरगौ ॥ २-४०-९ ॥

'The invisible Being then said, "The one who, when this child is placed on his lap, will have his superfluous arms fall to the ground like a pair of five-headed serpents.' ॥ 2-40-9 ॥

तृतीयम एतद बालस्य ललाटस्थं च लॊचनम निमज्जिष्यति यं दृष्ट्वा सॊ ऽसय मृत्युर भविष्यति ॥ २-४०-१० ॥

'The one who, upon seeing this third eye on the child's forehead, will cause it to vanish, will be his slayer.' ॥ 2-40-10 ॥
