'The monarch, equal to Brahma himself, then gave a name to his child. He declared that because the child had been united by Jara, he should be called Jarasandha, meaning 'united by Jara.'' ।। 2-17-6 ।।
'The son of the king of Magadha, endowed with great energy, began to grow in size and strength like a fire fueled by clarified butter. Increasing day by day, like the waxing moon in the bright fortnight, the child brought growing joy to his parents.' ।। 2-17-7 ।।
'Filled with joy at the advent of the Rishi, king Vrihadratha, accompanied by his ministers and priest and wives and son, went out to receive him.' ।। 2-17-9 ।।
पाद्यार्घ्याचमनीयैस तम अर्चयाम आस भारत स नृपॊ राज्यसहितं पुत्रं चास्मै नयवेदयत ।। २-१७-१० ।।
'And, O Bharata, after worshipping the sage with water for washing his feet and face, and offering him Arghya, the king then presented his entire kingdom along with his son to the sage for acceptance.' ।। 2-17-10 ।।
