वयूढानीकैर अनुबलैर नॊपेयाद बलवत्तरम इति बुद्धिमतां नीतिस तन ममापीह रॊचते ॥ २-१६-६ ॥
'The policy of wise men dictates that one should not openly engage in battle with foes who are exceedingly powerful and lead well-organized forces.' ॥ 2-16-6 ॥
english translation
अनवद्या हय असंबुद्धाः परविष्टाः शत्रुसद्म तत शत्रुदेहम उपाक्रम्य तं कामं पराप्नुयामहे ॥ २-१६-७ ॥
'This is also my view: if we achieve our objective by secretly entering our enemy's stronghold and attacking him personally, we will avoid disgrace.' ॥ 2-16-7 ॥
english translation
एकॊ हय एव शरियं नित्यं बिभर्ति पुरुषर्षभ अन्तरात्मेव भूतानां तत कषये वै बलक्षयः ॥ २-१६-८ ॥
'O best among men, this body alone constantly bears the self, As the inner soul of all beings; when it decays, indeed strength decays.' ॥ 2-16-8 ॥
english translation
अथ चेत तं निहत्याजौ शेषेणाभिसमागताः पराप्नुयाम ततः सवर्गं जञातित्राण परायनाः ॥ २-१६-९ ॥
'Yet, I foresee his downfall. To protect our kin, we must either defeat him in battle or ascend to heaven, having fought bravely but fallen to him in the end.' ॥ 2-16-9 ॥

[य] कृष्ण कॊ ऽयं जरासंधः किं वीर्यः किं पराक्रमः यस तवां सपृष्ट्वाग्निसदृशं न दग्धः शलभॊ यथा ॥ २-१६-१० ॥
'Yudhishthira said, "O Krishna, who exactly is this Jarasandha? What is his strength and prowess that, upon encountering you, he has not been consumed like an insect touched by fire?"' ॥ 2-16-10 ॥
