एवम एवाभिजानन्ति कुले जाता मनस्विनः कश चित कदा चिद एतेषां भवेच छरेयॊ जनार्दन ॥ २-१४-६ ॥
'I consider peace of mind to be paramount, as it leads to my prosperity. In my view, if I were to undertake this sacrifice, I might not achieve the highest reward. O Janardana, endowed with vigor and wisdom, those born in our lineage believe that one among us will eventually rise as the foremost among all Kshatriyas.' ॥ 2-14-6 ॥

[भ] अनारम्भ परॊ राजा वल्मीक इव सीदति दुर्बलश चानुपायेन बलिनं यॊ ऽधितिष्ठति ॥ २-१४-७ ॥
'But, O noble one, we were all also terrified by the fear of Jarasandha and, O sinless one, by the cruelty of that monarch.' ॥ 2-14-7 ॥

अतन्द्रितस तु परायेन दुर्बलॊ बलिनं रिपुम जयेत सम्यङ नयॊ राजन नीत्यार्थान आत्मनॊ हितान ॥ २-१४-८ ॥
'O King, generally, a vigilant but weak person can defeat a strong enemy Through proper conduct, pursuing beneficial policies for oneself.' ॥ 2-14-8 ॥

कृष्णे नयॊ मयि बलं जयः पार्थे धनंजये मागधं साधयिष्यामॊ वयं तरय इवाग्नयः ॥ २-१४-९ ॥
'In Krishna resides strategy, in myself strength, and in Arjuna victory. Thus, like the three ritual fires that complete a sacrifice, we shall bring about the downfall of the king of Magadha.' ॥ 2-14-9 ॥

[क] आदत्ते ऽरथपरॊ बालॊ नानुबन्धम अवेक्षते तस्माद अरिं न मृष्यन्ति बालम अर्थपरायणम ॥ २-१४-१० ॥
'Krishna then said, "One who lacks maturity in understanding seeks the fulfillment of desires without considering the consequences. It is observed that no one forgives such an immature enemy who is focused only on self-interest."' ॥ 2-14-10 ॥
