वृथा वृष्टिः समुद्रेषुवृथा तृप्तस्य भोजनम्। वृथा दानं समर्थस्य वृथा दीपो दिवापि च ॥१६II
The rain falling on the sea is useless. After being satisfied with food, food is useless. Giving alms to a capable person is useless and lighting a lamp during the day is useless.

समुद्र में होने वाली वर्षा व्यर्थ है। भोजन से तृप्त होने के पश्च्यात अन्न व्यर्थ है। समर्थ को दान देना व्यर्थ है तथा दिन के समय जलता दीपक व्यर्थ है।

नास्ति मेघसमं तोयं नास्ति चात्मसमं बलम्। नास्ति चक्षुःसमं तेजो नास्ति धान्यसमं प्रियम् ॥१७II
There is no water like rain. There is no power equal to your power. There is no light like the light of the eyes. There is no greater wealth than food.

वर्षा के समान कोई जल नहीं। अपनी शक्ति के समान कोई शक्ति नहीं। नेत्र ज्योति के समान कोई प्रकाश नहीं । अन्न से बढ़कर कोई संपत्ति नहीं।

अधना धनमिच्छन्ति वाचं चैव चतुष्पदाः । मानवाः स्वर्गमिच्छन्ति मोक्षमिच्छन्ति देवताः ॥१८II
The poor wish for wealth. Animals desire speech. Human beings wish for heaven and gods wish for salvation.

निर्धन धन की कामना करते है। पशु वाणी की कामना करते है । मनुष्य स्वर्ग की कामना करते हैं तथा देवता मुक्ति की कामना करते हैं रहती हैं।

Truth alone sustains this world. The sun shines only through truth, the winds blow through truth and everything depends on truth.

सत्य ही इस दुनिया को धारण करता है। सत्य से ही सूर्य प्रकाशमान है, सत्य से ही हवाएं चलती हैं तथा सत्य पर ही सब कुछ आश्रित है।

Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth, is fickle. Our breathing is also fickle. The whole world is fickle, that is, nothing is stable in this world. If anything is stable here it is only religion.
