मूर्खश्चिरायुर्जातोऽपि तस्माज्जातमृतो वरः । मृतः स चाल्पदुःखाय यावज्जीवं जडो दहेत् ॥७II

sanskrit

A child who was dead at birth is better than a foolish long-lived child. The first child gives sorrow for a moment, the second child tortures his parents in the fire of sorrow throughout their life.

english translation

एक ऐसा बालक जो जन्मते वक़्त मृत था, एक मूर्ख दीर्घायु बालक से बेहतर है। पहला बालक तो एक क्षण के लिए दुःख देता है, दूसरा बालक उसके माँ बाप को जिंदगी भर दुःख की अग्नि में प्रताड़ित करता है।
