दानार्थिनो मधुकरा यदि कर्णतालैर्दूरीकृताः करिवरेण मदान्धबुद्ध्या । तस्यैव गण्डयुगमण्डनहानिरेषाभृङ्गाः पुनर्विकचपद्मवने वसन्ति ॥१८॥

If an intoxicated elephant waves its ears away at the illusionists drinking the juice dripping from its forehead, then the beetles are not harmed at all, they go happily towards the pond full of lotuses. But the beauty of the elephant's forehead diminishes. That means time and earth are infinite, the virtuous get respect somewhere.

english translation

यदि मदमस्त हाथी अपने माथे से टपकने वाले रस को पीने वाले भ्रमरों को कान हिलाकर उड़ा देता है, तो भौरों ही कुछ भी हानि नहीं होती, वे कमल से भरे हुए तालाब की ओर प्रसन्न होकर चले जाते हैं। परन्तु हाथी के माथे का शोभा कम हो जाता है। अर्थात काल और पृथ्वी अनंत है, गुणी का आदर कहीं न कही हो ही जाता है I
