न चेत् कारणमात्मा स्याद्भादयः [२] स्युरहेतुकाः। न चैषु सम्भवेज् ज्ञानं न च तैः स्यात् प्रयोजनम् ॥४२॥

Then the theory of cause and effect which is a fundamental tenet of Ayurveda will fail and no one will put any effort in understanding the cause of any effect.

english translation

na cet kAraNamAtmA syAdbhAdayaH [2] syurahetukAH। na caiSu sambhavej jJAnaM na ca taiH syAt prayojanam ॥42॥
