बहुद्रव्यं बहुगुणं बहुकर्म मदात्मकम् । गुणैर्दोषैश्च तन्मद्यमुभयं चोपलक्ष्यते ॥२६॥
॥ Pros and cons of drinking madya॥ Liquor prepared by multiple ingredients carry multiple qualities and multiple actions, characterized by advantages and disadvantages.

bahudravyaM bahuguNaM bahukarma madAtmakam । guNairdoSaizca tanmadyamubhayaM copalakSyate ॥26॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptविधिना मात्रया काले हितैरन्नैर्यथाबलम् । प्रहृष्टो यः पिबेन्मद्यं तस्य स्यादमृतं यथा ॥२७॥
It is like ambrosia; for the one who drinks as per the standard guidelines, in optimum quantity, at suitable time, with advisable diet, as per the capacity and with exhilaration.
english translation
vidhinA mAtrayA kAle hitairannairyathAbalam । prahRSTo yaH pibenmadyaM tasya syAdamRtaM yathA ॥27॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptयथोपेतं पुनर्मद्यं प्रसङ्गाद्येन पीयते । रूक्षव्यायामनित्येन विषवद्याति तस्य तत् ॥२८॥
On the contrary, it will be like poison for the one who indulges in excessive drinking any kind of liquor, and who have excess dryness in body and follows excess exertion.

yathopetaM punarmadyaM prasaGgAdyena pIyate । rUkSavyAyAmanityena viSavadyAti tasya tat ॥28॥

॥ Properties and effects of madya on oja॥ The madya (liquor) affects heart by counteracting the ojas (the vital essence of body ) and its ten qualities with the ten qualities of (the liquor) itself.

madyaM hRdayamAvizya svaguNairojaso guNAn । dazabhirdaza saGkSobhya ceto nayati vikriyAm ॥29॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptलघूष्णतीक्ष्णसूक्ष्माम्लव्यवाय्याशुगमेव च । रूक्षं विकाशि विशदं मद्यं दशगुणं स्मृतम् ॥३०॥
Laghu (agile), ushna (hot), teekshna (sharply acting), sukshma (tiny), amla (sour), vyavayi (pervading), ashu (fast acting), ruksha (arid), vikashi (expanding), vishada (non-slimy) are the ten qualities of the liquor.
