भिषगप्यातुरान् सर्वान् स्वसुतानिव यत्नवान्। आबाधेभ्यो हि संरक्षेदिच्छन् धर्ममनुत्तमम् ॥५६॥

The physician too should consider all his patients as his own sons; protect them sincerely from all the ailments, wishing the excellent piety.

english translation

धर्मार्थं चार्थकामार्थमायुर्वेदो महर्षिभिः। प्रकाशितो धर्मपरैरिच्छद्भिः स्थानमक्षरम् ॥५७॥

Ayurveda has been empowered by the great rishis devoted to piety and wishing immortality for welfare and not for earning or enjoyment.

नार्थार्थं नापि कामार्थमथ भूतदयां प्रति। वर्तते यश्चिकित्सायां स सर्वमतिवर्तते ॥५८॥

He who practises medicine neither for gain nor for gratification of the senses, but moved by compassion for creatures, surpasses all,

कुर्वते ये तु वृत्त्यर्थं चिकित्सापण्यविक्रयम्। ते हित्वाकाञ्चनं राशिं पांशुराशिमुपासते ॥५९॥

Those who, for the sake of a living, make merchandise of medicine, bargain for a dust-heap, letting go a heap of gold.

english translation

दारुणैः कृष्यमाणानां गदैर्वैवस्वतक्षयम्। छित्त्वा वैवस्वतान् पाशान् जीवितं यः प्रयच्छति॥६०॥

There is no benefactor, either moral or material, comparable to that physician who regains those who are being dragged away by fierce diseases towards the abode of death, back to life, by severing the noose of death.
