यद्युदयऋक्षाद्वक्रं करोति नवमाष्टसप्तमऋक्षेषु । तद् वक्त्राम् उष्णं उदये पीडाकरं अग्निवार्त्तानाम् ॥ ६-०१ ॥
If the Mars should begin to retrograde from the 7th, 8th or 9th constellation from that in which he reappears after his conjunction with the Sun, persons who live by fire will be afflicted with disease.
english translation
yadyudayaRkSAdvakraM karoti navamASTasaptamaRkSeSu । tad vaktrAm uSNaM udaye pIDAkaraM agnivArttAnAm ॥ 6-01 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptद्वादशदशमएकादशनक्षत्राद्वक्रिते कुजे अश्रुमुखम् । दूषयति रसानुदये करोति रोगानवृष्टिं च ॥ ६-०२ ॥
If Mars should begin to retrograde from the 10th, 11th or 12th constellation from that of his reappearance, such retrograde motion is known as aśrumukha: when Mars should re-appear after his next conjunction with the Sun, juice will be injured and there will be disease and drought.

dvAdazadazamaekAdazanakSatrAdvakrite kuje azrumukham । dUSayati rasAnudaye karoti rogAnavRSTiM ca ॥ 6-02 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptव्यालं त्रयोदशऋक्षाच्चतुर्दशाद्वा विपच्यते अस्तमये । दंष्ट्रिव्यालमृगेभ्यः करोति पीडां सुभिक्षं च ॥ ६-०३ ॥
If he should begin to retrograde from the 13th or 14th constellation from that of his reappearance, such retrograde motion is known as vyāla: when he should disappear before his next conjunction with the Sun, wild boars and fierce animals will be afflicted with distress.

vyAlaM trayodazaRkSAccaturdazAdvA vipacyate astamaye । daMSTrivyAlamRgebhyaH karoti pIDAM subhikSaM ca ॥ 6-03 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptरुधिरऽननं इति वक्त्रं पञ्चदशात्षोडशाच्च विनिवृत्ते । तत्कालं मुखरोगं सभयं च सुभिक्षं आवहति ॥ ६-०४ ॥
If Mars should begin to retrograde from the 15th or the 16th constellation from that of his reappearance, such retrograde motion is known as rudhirānana; at the time of such reappearance mankind will be afflicted with disease in the face and with various fears, but there will be prosperity in the land.

rudhira'nanaM iti vaktraM paJcadazAtSoDazAcca vinivRtte । tatkAlaM mukharogaM sabhayaM ca subhikSaM Avahati ॥ 6-04 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptअसिमुशलं सप्तदशादष्टादशतो अपि वा तदनुवक्रे । दस्युगणेभ्यः पीदां करोत्यवृष्टिं सशस्त्रभयाम् ॥ ६-०५ ॥
If he should begin to retrograde from the 17th or the 18th constellation from that of his reappearance such retrograde motion is known as Asimusala; when Mars is in his reretrograde motion, bands of robbers will be afflicted with distress and there will be drought and wars in the land.

asimuzalaM saptadazAdaSTAdazato api vA tadanuvakre । dasyugaNebhyaH pIdAM karotyavRSTiM sazastrabhayAm ॥ 6-05 ॥
