कार्यो अष्टभुजो भगवांश्चतुर्भुजो द्विभुज एव वा विष्णुः । श्रीवत्साङ्कितवक्षाः कौस्तुभमणिभूषितौरस्कः ॥ ५८-३१ ॥

अतसीकुसुमश्यामः पीताम्बरनिवसनः प्रसन्नमुखः । कुण्डलकिरीटधारी पीनगलौरःस्थलांसभुजः ॥ ५८-३२ ॥

Śrīvatsa; and the figure shall be represented to wear at the breast the gem known as Kaustubha.

atasIkusumazyAmaH pItAmbaranivasanaH prasannamukhaH । kuNDalakirITadhArI pInagalauraHsthalAMsabhujaH ॥ 58-32 ॥

खड्गगदाशरपाणिर्दक्षिणतः शान्तिदश्चतुर्थकरः । वामकरेषु च कार्मुकखेटकचक्राणि शङ्खश्च ॥ ५८-३३ ॥

The body shall be of the colour of the Atasī flower; the cloth shall be of yellow colour; the countenance cheerful and the image shall be made to wear pendants and crowns. The neck, the breast, the shoulders and the arm shall be large.

khaDgagadAzarapANirdakSiNataH zAntidazcaturthakaraH । vAmakareSu ca kArmukakheTakacakrANi zaGkhazca ॥ 58-33 ॥

अथ च चतुर्भुजं इच्छति शान्तिद एको गदाधरश्चान्यः । दक्षिणपार्श्वे त्व् एवं वामे शङ्खश्च चक्रं च ॥ ५८-३४ ॥

Three of the right hands shall hold a sword, a stick and an arrow, and the fourth hand shall appear stretched and held vertically. The four left hands shall hold the bow, the target, the discus and the conch shell.

atha ca caturbhujaM icchati zAntida eko gadAdharazcAnyaH । dakSiNapArzve tv evaM vAme zaGkhazca cakraM ca ॥ 58-34 ॥

द्विभुजस्य तु शान्तिकरो दक्षिणहस्तो अपरश्च शङ्खधरः । एवं विष्णोः प्रतिमा कर्तव्या भूतिं इच्छद्भिः ॥ ५८-३५ ॥

If the image of Viṣṇu be made with only four hands, one of the two right hands shall hold the stick and the other shall be raised as an abhaya-hasta. Of the two left hands, one shall hold the conch-shell and the other the discus.

dvibhujasya tu zAntikaro dakSiNahasto aparazca zaGkhadharaH । evaM viSNoH pratimA kartavyA bhUtiM icchadbhiH ॥ 58-35 ॥
