ऐशान्यां देवगृहं महानसं यदि चापि कार्यं आग्नेय्याम् । नैरृत्यां भाण्डौपस्करो अर्थधान्यानि मारुत्याम् ॥ ५३-११६ ॥
The apartment for the Devas shall be built in the north-east; the kitchen in the south-east; the room for the household utensils shall be erected in the south-west; and the treasury and the granary rooms shall be erected in the north-west.
english translation
aizAnyAM devagRhaM mahAnasaM yadi cApi kAryaM AgneyyAm । nairRtyAM bhANDaupaskaro arthadhAnyAni mArutyAm ॥ 53-116 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptप्राच्यादिस्थे सलिले सुतहानिः शिखिभयं रिपुभयं च । स्त्रीकलहः स्त्रीदौष्ट्यं नैःस्व्यं वित्तात्मजविवृद्धिः ॥ ५३-११७ ॥
If there be any piece of water in the east, south-east, south, south-west, west, north-west, north and north-east, there will respectively be the death of sons, injury from fire, troubles from enemies, quarrels among women, unchastity among women, poverty, increase of wealth and increase of sons.

prAcyAdisthe salile sutahAniH zikhibhayaM ripubhayaM ca । strIkalahaH strIdauSTyaM naiHsvyaM vittAtmajavivRddhiH ॥ 53-117 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptखगनिलयभग्नसंशुष्कदग्धदेवालयश्मशानस्थान् । क्षीरतरुधवविभीतकनिम्बारणि वर्जितान्छिन्द्यात् ॥ ५३-११८ ॥
For the purpose of house-building (vāstu-vidyā) other trees shall be cut down than those in which birds reside, or that are broken or have dried or are burnt, or in which the Devas live or which grow on cremation grounds, as well as milky trees, the Dhava, the Vibhītaka, the margosa and the Araṇi.
english translation
khaganilayabhagnasaMzuSkadagdhadevAlayazmazAnasthAn । kSIratarudhavavibhItakanimbAraNi varjitAnchindyAt ॥ 53-118 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptरात्रौ कृतबलिपूजं प्रदक्षिणं छेदयेद्दिवा वृक्षम् । धन्यं उदक्प्राक्पततं न ग्राह्यो अतो अन्यथा पतितः ॥ ५३-११९ ॥
Cooked rice shall be offered and pūjā performed to the tree at night, and it shall be cut down from left to right next day. If it falls on the north or east side, there will be increase of wealth, and if it falls on any other side, it shall be rejected.
english translation
rAtrau kRtabalipUjaM pradakSiNaM chedayeddivA vRkSam । dhanyaM udakprAkpatataM na grAhyo ato anyathA patitaH ॥ 53-119 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptछेदो यद्यविकारी ततः शुभं दारु तद्गृहौपयिकम् । पीते तु मण्डले निर्दिशेत्तरोर्मध्यगां गोधाम् ॥ ५३-१२० ॥
If the cut be not irregular, the tree will bring on prosperity; if the portion cut be of yellow colour, there will be an alligator inside the tree.
english translation
chedo yadyavikArI tataH zubhaM dAru tadgRhaupayikam । pIte tu maNDale nirdizettarormadhyagAM godhAm ॥ 53-120 ॥
