गोपाः पशवो अथ गोमिनो मनुजा ये च महत्त्वं आगताः । पीडां उपयान्ति भास्करे ग्रस्ते शीतकरे अथ वा वृषे ॥ ५-३६ ॥
If the sun or moon should be eclipsed when in the sign of Taurus (Vṛṣabha), shepherds, cows, their owners and eminent men will suffer miseries.
english translation
gopAH pazavo atha gomino manujA ye ca mahattvaM AgatAH । pIDAM upayAnti bhAskare graste zItakare atha vA vRSe ॥ 5-36 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptमिथुने प्रवराङ्गना नृपा नृपमात्रा बलिनः कलाविदः । यमुनातटजाः सबाह्लिका मत्स्याः सुह्मजनैः समन्विताः ॥ ५-३७ ॥
If they should be eclipsed when in the sign of Gemini (Mithuna), chaste women, princes, powerful petty chiefs, learned men, people living on the banks of the Yamunā and the rulers of Bahlikā and Matsya with their subjects will suffer miseries.

mithune pravarAGganA nRpA nRpamAtrA balinaH kalAvidaH । yamunAtaTajAH sabAhlikA matsyAH suhmajanaiH samanvitAH ॥ 5-37 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptआभीरान्शबरान्सपह्लवान्मल्लान्मत्स्यकुरूञ् छकानपि । पाञ्चालान्विकलांश्च पीडयत्यन्नं चापि निहन्ति कर्कटे ॥ ५-३८ ॥
If they should be eclipsed when in the sign of Cancer (Karka) the Ābhīras, the Śabaras, the Pallavas, the Mallas, the Matsyas, the Kurus, the Śakas, the Pāñcālas and the Vikalās will be afflicted with miseries and food grains will be destroyed.

AbhIrAnzabarAnsapahlavAnmallAnmatsyakurUJ chakAnapi । pAJcAlAnvikalAMzca pIDayatyannaM cApi nihanti karkaTe ॥ 5-38 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptसिंहे पुलिन्दगणमेकलसत्त्वयुक्तान्राजौपमान्नरपतीन्वनगोचरांश्च । षष्ठे तु सस्यकविलेखकगेयसक्तान्हन्त्यश्मकत्रिपुरशालियुतांश्च देशान् ॥ ५-३९ ॥
If the sun and moon should be eclipsed when in the sign of Leo (Siṃha) hill men, prince like people possessed of a single military force, princes and forest men will suffer miseries. If they should be eclipsed when in the sign of Virgo (Kanyā), crops, poets, writers and singers will suffer and the rice fields of Aśmaka and Tripura will be destroyed.

hk transliteration by Sanscriptतुलाधरे अवन्त्यपरान्त्यसाधून्वणिग्दशार्णान् मरुकच्छपांश् च । अलिन्यथौदुम्बरमद्रचोलान्द्रुमान्सयौधेयविषऽयुधीयान् ॥ ५-४० ॥
If they should be eclipsed when in the sign of Libra (Tulā), the people of the extreme border lands on the west, the people of Sindha, the trading classes and the people of Kaccha will be afflicted with miseries. If when in the sign of Scorpio (Vṛścika), the people of Udambara, of Madra, of Colā and of Yaudheya will all suffer miseries along with soldiers armed with poisoned weapons.
