भौमं चरस्थिरभवं तत्शान्तिभिराहतं शमं उपैति । नाभसं उपैति मृदुतां शाम्यति नो दिव्यं इत्येके ॥ ४६-०५ ॥
Any unusual phenomena connected with both movable and immovable terrastrial objects are known as terrestial portents. The effects of these can be avoided by means of expiatory rites, whereas the effects of atmospheric portents can only be softened by such ceremonies, and in the opinion of some the effects of stellar portents cannot be avoided by any means.
