कथयन्ति पार्थिववधं रजसा घनतिमिरसञ्चयनिभेन । अविभाव्यमानगिरिपुरतरवः सर्वा दिशश्छन्नाः ॥ ३८-०१ ॥
If the dust-storm (rajas) should be so black and dense as to render mountains, towns and trees undistinguishable, the reigning prince will die.
english translation
kathayanti pArthivavadhaM rajasA ghanatimirasaJcayanibhena । avibhAvyamAnagiripurataravaH sarvA dizazchannAH ॥ 38-01 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptयस्यां दिशि धूमचयः प्राक्प्रभवति नाशमेति वा यस्याम् । आगच्छति सप्ताहात्तत्र एव भयं न सन्देहः ॥ ३८-०२ ॥
If the dust-storm should be of the colour of smoke, there will be suffering in the countries in which the storm appears for the ñrst time or disappears finally, within seven days from the occurrence of the event.
english translation
yasyAM dizi dhUmacayaH prAkprabhavati nAzameti vA yasyAm । Agacchati saptAhAttatra eva bhayaM na sandehaH ॥ 38-02 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptश्वेते रजोघनौघे पीडा स्यान्मन्त्रिजनपदानां च । नचिरात्प्रकोपं उपयाति शस्त्रं अतिसङ्कुला सिद्धिः ॥ ३८-०३ ॥
If the dust-storm should resemble white clouds, ministers and people at large will suffer; there will be wars in the land and mankind will be afflicted with innumerable miseries.
english translation
zvete rajoghanaughe pIDA syAnmantrijanapadAnAM ca । nacirAtprakopaM upayAti zastraM atisaGkulA siddhiH ॥ 38-03 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptअर्कोदये विजृम्भति यदि दिनं एकं दिनद्वयं वाअपि । स्थगयन्निव गगनतलं भयं अत्युग्रं निवेदयति ॥ ३८-०४ ॥
If the dust-storm should appear to hide the sky about sunrise on one or two consecutive days, mankind will suffer from great fears.
english translation
arkodaye vijRmbhati yadi dinaM ekaM dinadvayaM vAapi । sthagayanniva gaganatalaM bhayaM atyugraM nivedayati ॥ 38-04 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptअनवरतसञ्चयवहं रजनीं एकां प्रधाननृपहन्तृ । क्षेमाय च शेषाणां विचक्षणानां नरेन्द्राणाम् ॥ ३८-०५ ॥
If the storm should (rajas) continue dense for a night the chief ruler will perish; but other princes will prosper.
english translation
