प्रतिसूर्यकः प्रशस्तो दिवसकृदृतुवर्णसप्रभः स्निग्धः । वैदूर्यनिभः स्वच्छः शुक्लश्च क्षेमसौभिक्षः ॥ ३७-०१ ॥

If the appearance of Pratisūrya or Parhelion, should be of the colour assigned to the Sun for the several seasons of the year and at the same time glossy, or if it should be of the colour of the cat’s-eye (gem) or clear and white, there will be prosperity in the land.

pratisUryakaH prazasto divasakRdRtuvarNasaprabhaH snigdhaH । vaidUryanibhaH svacchaH zuklazca kSemasaubhikSaH ॥ 37-01 ॥

पीतो व्याधिं जनयत्यशोकरूपश्च शस्त्रकोपाय । प्रतिसूर्याणां माला दस्युभयऽतङ्कनृपहन्त्री ॥ ३७-०२ ॥

If the appearance should be yellow, there will be diseases in the land; if red, resembling the colour of the Aśoka flower, there will be wars. If these appearances should together form a figure of the shape of a garland, there will be suffering from thieves and the chief ruler will perish.

pIto vyAdhiM janayatyazokarUpazca zastrakopAya । pratisUryANAM mAlA dasyubhaya'taGkanRpahantrI ॥ 37-02 ॥

दिवसकृतः प्रतिसूर्यो जलकृदुदग्दक्षिणे स्थितो अनिलकृत् । उभयस्थः सलिलभयं नृपं उपरि निहन्त्यधो जनहा ॥ ३७-०३ ॥

If the appearance should be seen to the north of the Sun, there will be rain; if to the south of the Sun, there will be winds; if on both sides of the Sun there will be fear from floods; if seen above the Sun, rulers will perish; and if below the Sun, there will be deaths in the land.

divasakRtaH pratisUryo jalakRdudagdakSiNe sthito anilakRt । ubhayasthaH salilabhayaM nRpaM upari nihantyadho janahA ॥ 37-03 ॥
