बर्हि पुच्छरूपिणी लोकसंक्षयऽवहा । सर्पवत् प्रसर्पती योषितां अनिष्टदा ॥ ३३-२६ ॥

If the meteor (ulkā) should be of the colour and shape of the peacock’s train, there will be misery in the land; if it should move like a serpent, women will suffer.

हन्ति मण्डला पुरं छत्रवत्पुरोहितम् । वंशगुल्मवत्स्थिता राष्ट्रदोषकारिणी ॥ ३३-२७ ॥

If it should appear circular in shape, towns will suffer; if of the shape of an umbrella, priests will suffer; and if of the shape of a clump of bamboos, the kingdom will be imperilled.

व्यालसूकरौपमा विस्फुलिङ्गमालिनी । खण्डशो अथ वा गता सस्वना च पापदा ॥ ३३-२८ ॥

If it should be of the shape of a snake or a pig, or appear as if covered with sparks of fire, or cut or fall with noise, there will be misery in the land.

सुरपतिचापप्रतिमा राज्यं नभसि विलीना जलदान्हन्ति । पवनविलोमा कुटिलं याता न भवति शस्ता विनिवृत्ता वा ॥ ३३-२९ ॥

If it should appear of the shape of the rainbow, the kingdom will suffer; if it should disappear in the sky, clouds will be destroyed; if it should move against the course of the wind or obliquely or retrograde in its motion, there will be misery in the land.

अभिभवति यतः पुरं बलं वा भवति भयं तत एव पार्थिवस्य । निपतति च यया दिशा प्रदीप्ता जयति रिपूनचिरात्तया प्रयातः ॥ ३३-३० ॥

If it should fall on a town or an army, the ruler will suffer from such town or army; if it should appear to come blazing from a certain quarter, the prince that marches for fight in that direction will succeed in battle.
