Brihat Samhita
व्यभ्रे वृष्टिर्वैकृतं वातवृष्टिर्धूमो अनग्नेर्विस्फुलिङ्गार्चिषो वा । वन्यं सत्त्वं ग्राममध्ये विशेद्वा रात्रावैन्द्रं कार्मुकं दृश्यते वा ॥ ३२-२५ ॥
Rain falling from a cloudless sky, unnatural or freakish wind and rain, the appearance of smoke or sparks and flames where there is no fire; Wild animals entering the heart of a village (or town), or the appearance of a rainbow (Indra’s Bow) in the middle of the night ॥ are all ominous signs॥.

vyabhre vRSTirvaikRtaM vAtavRSTirdhUmo anagnervisphuliGgArciSo vA । vanyaM sattvaM grAmamadhye vizedvA rAtrAvaindraM kArmukaM dRzyate vA ॥ 32-25 ॥
