रविकिरणजलदमरुतां सङ्घातो दण्डवत्स्थितो दण्डः । स विदिक्स्थितो नृपाणां अशुभो दिक्षु द्विजादीनाम् ॥ ३०-१६ ॥
Daṇḍa is an appearance in the sky of the shape of a rod caused by the wind bringing together clouds and solar rays; if this should appear in the south-east, north-west or north-east, rulers will suffer miseries; if it should appear in the east, south, west or north, the Brāhmaṇas will suffer.

ravikiraNajaladamarutAM saGghAto daNDavatsthito daNDaH । sa vidiksthito nRpANAM azubho dikSu dvijAdInAm ॥ 30-16 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptशस्त्रभयऽतङ्ककरो दृष्टः प्राङ्मध्यसन्धिषु दिनस्य । शुक्लाद्यो विप्रादीन्यदभिमुखस्तां निहन्ति दिशम् ॥ ३०-१७ ॥
If it should appear at sunrise or sunset or midday (in one of the corners), there will be wars in the land; if it should be white, red, yellow, or black, the Brāhmaṇas, the Kṣatriyas, the Vaiśyas or the Śūdras will suffer respectively; countries to which the Daṇḍa points will also suffer.

zastrabhaya'taGkakaro dRSTaH prAGmadhyasandhiSu dinasya । zuklAdyo viprAdInyadabhimukhastAM nihanti dizam ॥ 30-17 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptदधिसदृशाग्रो नीलो भानुच्छादी खमध्यगो अभ्रतरुः । पीतच्छुरिताश्च घना घनमूला भूरिवृष्टिकराः ॥ ३०-१८ ॥
If the appearance known as Abhrataru (cloud-tree) should be seen with its ends of the colour of coagulated milk, the body being black, and if it should conceal from view the midday-sun, there will be abundant rain; also if the clouds should appear of beautiful yellow colour and thick at the bottom, the rainfall will be abundant.

dadhisadRzAgro nIlo bhAnucchAdI khamadhyago abhrataruH । pItacchuritAzca ghanA ghanamUlA bhUrivRSTikarAH ॥ 30-18 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptअनुलोमगे अभ्रवृक्षे शमं गते यायिनो नृपस्य बधः । बालतरुप्रतिरूपिणि युवराजामात्ययोर्मृत्युः ॥ ३०-१९ ॥
If the appearance of Abhravṛkṣa should for some time move regularly and then disappear, the king that marches out for fight will perish; if it should appear like a young tree, princes and ministers will perish.

anulomage abhravRkSe zamaM gate yAyino nRpasya badhaH । bAlatarupratirUpiNi yuvarAjAmAtyayormRtyuH ॥ 30-19 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptकुवलयवैदूर्याम्बुजकिञ्जल्काभा प्रभञ्जनौन्मुक्ता । सन्ध्या करोति वृष्टिं रविकिरणौद्भासिता सद्यः ॥ ३०-२० ॥
If the twilight sky should be of the colour of the blue lotus, of the cat’s-eye gem, or of the nut of the lotus, and if the Sun should have either begun to rise or should not have set, there will be immediate rain.

kuvalayavaidUryAmbujakiJjalkAbhA prabhaJjanaunmuktA । sandhyA karoti vRSTiM ravikiraNaudbhAsitA sadyaH ॥ 30-20 ॥
