न पृथक्फलानि तेषां शिखिकीलकराहुदर्शनानि यदि । तदुदयकारणं एषां केतुआदीनां फलं ब्रूयात् ॥ ३-११ ॥

The appearances of comets, meteors, and eclipses do not each produce separate results by themselves. Rather, one should explain their effects as arising from the common cause of their occurrence.

na pRthakphalAni teSAM zikhikIlakarAhudarzanAni yadi । tadudayakAraNaM eSAM ketuAdInAM phalaM brUyAt ॥ 3-11 ॥

यस्मिन्यस्मिन्देशे दर्शनं आयान्ति सूर्यबिम्बस्था । तस्मिंस्तस्मिन्व्यसनं महीपतीनां परिज्ञेयम् ॥ ३-१२ ॥

In whatever region these phenomena appear while situated in the solar disc, in that very region the kings should understand that calamity will occur.

yasminyasmindeze darzanaM AyAnti sUryabimbasthA । tasmiMstasminvyasanaM mahIpatInAM parijJeyam ॥ 3-12 ॥

क्षुत्प्रम्लानशरीरा मुनयो अप्युत्सृष्टधर्मसच्चरिताः । निर्मांसबालहस्ताः कृच्छ्रेण आयान्ति परदेशम् ॥ ३-१३ ॥

Even Ṛṣis, reduced to mere skeletons by starvation, giving up their pious course of life, with fleshless infants in their arms.

kSutpramlAnazarIrA munayo apyutsRSTadharmasaccaritAH । nirmAMsabAlahastAH kRcchreNa AyAnti paradezam ॥ 3-13 ॥

तस्करविलुप्तवित्ताः प्रदीर्घनिःश्वासमुकुलिताक्षिपुटाः । सन्तः सन्नशरीराः शोकौद्भव वाष्प द्धदृशः ॥ ३-१४ ॥

Deprived of their property by highway men, with long sighs, closed eyes, emaciated bodies, and with their sight dimmed with the tears of sorrow will proceed with difficulty to other lands.

क्षामा जुगुप्समानाः स्वनृपतिपरचक्रपीडिता मनुजाः । स्वनृपतिचरितं कर्म न पुरा कृतं प्रब्रुवन्त्यन्ये ॥ ३-१५ ॥

Men, reduced to mere bones and as named to beg will be harassed both by their own princes and by the princes of other lands. Some will begin to speak disparagingly of the character and deeds of their own sovereign.
