सतमस्कं पर्व विना त्वष्टा नामार्कमण्डलं कुरुते । स निहन्ति सप्त भूपान्जनांश्च शस्त्राग्निदुर्भिक्षैः ॥ ३-०६ ॥
Even on other than new-moon days the Ketu named Tvaṣṭā eclipses the solar disc. Then seven princes and their subjects will perish by the sword, by fire and by famine.
english translation
satamaskaM parva vinA tvaSTA nAmArkamaNDalaM kurute । sa nihanti sapta bhUpAnjanAMzca zastrAgnidurbhikSaiH ॥ 3-06 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतामसकीलकसंज्ञा राहुसुताः केतवस्त्रयस्त्रिंशत् । वर्णस्थानऽकारैस्तान्दृष्ट्वा अर्के फलं ब्रूयात् ॥ ३-०७ ॥
The dark spots, also known as Ketus, the sons of Rāhu are Tāmasa, Kīlaka and the like, and are 33 in number. How they affect the earth depends upon their color, position and shape.
english translation
tAmasakIlakasaMjJA rAhusutAH ketavastrayastriMzat । varNasthAna'kAraistAndRSTvA arke phalaM brUyAt ॥ 3-07 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptते चार्कमण्डलगताः पापफलाश्चन्द्रमण्डले सौम्याः । ध्वाङ्क्षकबन्धप्रहरणरूपाः पापाः शशाङ्के अपि ॥ ३-०८ ॥
If these spots should appear on the solar disc, mankind will suffer miseries; if on the lunar disc mankind will be happy; but if they take the shape of a crow, a headless human body, or a weapon, mankind will suffer even though the spots should appear on the moon.
english translation
te cArkamaNDalagatAH pApaphalAzcandramaNDale saumyAH । dhvAGkSakabandhapraharaNarUpAH pApAH zazAGke api ॥ 3-08 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतेषां उदये रूपाण्यम्भः कलुषं रजोवृतं व्योम । नगतरुशिखर आमर्दी सशर्करो मारुतश्चण्डः ॥ ३-०९ ॥
When the spots appear on the solar disc the waters will get disturbed; the sky will be filled with dust; high winds capable of breaking down the tops of mountains and of trees, will carry pebbles and sand along their course.
english translation
teSAM udaye rUpANyambhaH kaluSaM rajovRtaM vyoma । nagataruzikhara AmardI sazarkaro mArutazcaNDaH ॥ 3-09 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptऋतुविपरीतास्तरवो दीप्ता मृगपक्षिणो दिशां दाहाः । निर्घातमहीकम्पऽदयो भवन्त्यत्र चौत्पाताः ॥ ३-१० ॥
The trees will fail to yield in their appropriate seasons; birds and animals will appear to be burning; there will be an appearance of false fire all round; and lightning and earthquake will afflict mankind.
english translation
RtuviparItAstaravo dIptA mRgapakSiNo dizAM dAhAH । nirghAtamahIkampa'dayo bhavantyatra cautpAtAH ॥ 3-10 ॥
