ज्यैष्ठसिते अष्टम्याद्यश्चत्वारो वायुधारणा दिवसाः । मृदुशुभपवनाः शस्ताः स्निग्धघनस्थगितगगनाश्च ॥ २२-०१ ॥
The four days commencing from the eighth day in the light half of the month of Jyeṣṭha (May and June) are known as Vāyu Dhāraṇa days, that is, days from the winds that blow on which the nature of the health of the pregnancy of the rain-clouds might be determined. If the winds should be gentle and agreeable and then, if the sky should be covered by fine, bright clouds, there will be good rain.

jyaiSThasite aSTamyAdyazcatvAro vAyudhAraNA divasAH । mRduzubhapavanAH zastAH snigdhaghanasthagitagaganAzca ॥ 22-01 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतत्रएव स्वात्याद्ये वृष्टे भचतुष्टये क्रमात्मासाः । श्रावणपूर्वा ज्ञेयाः परिस्रुता धारणास्ताः स्युः । २२-०२ ॥
But if, in the said light half of Jyeṣṭha, there should be a fall of rain in the four days when the Moon passes through the asterism of from Svāti to Jyeṣṭhā, there will be rain in the rainy season—from Srāvaṇa to Kārttika (August to November).

tatraeva svAtyAdye vRSTe bhacatuSTaye kramAtmAsAH । zrAvaNapUrvA jJeyAH parisrutA dhAraNAstAH syuH । 22-02 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptयदि ता स्युरेकरूपाः शुभास्ततः सान्तरास्तु न शिवाय । तस्करभयदाश् चौक्ताः श्लोकाश्चाप्यत्र वासिष्ठाः ॥ २२-०३ ॥
If the four Dhāraṇa days should be exactly alike in their indications, there will be happiness in the land; if different from one another, there will be misery, and there will also be fear from robbers; we have the recorded opinion of Vasiṣṭha to the same effect.

yadi tA syurekarUpAH zubhAstataH sAntarAstu na zivAya । taskarabhayadAz cauktAH zlokAzcApyatra vAsiSThAH ॥ 22-03 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptसविद्युतः सपृषतः सपांशुउत्करमारुताः । सार्कचन्द्रपरिच्छन्ना धारणाः शुभधारणाः ॥ २२-०४ ॥
If on the Dhāraṇa days, the Sun and Moon should be covered by wet clouds attended by lightning and dust-storm, there will be good rain.
english translation
savidyutaH sapRSataH sapAMzuutkaramArutAH । sArkacandraparicchannA dhAraNAH zubhadhAraNAH ॥ 22-04 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptयदा तु विद्युतः श्रेष्ठाः शुभाशाः प्रत्युपस्थिताः । तदापि सर्वसस्यानां वृद्धिं ब्रूयाद्विचक्षणः ॥ २२-०५ ॥
If on the Dhāraṇa days the sky should be marked by beautiful lightning alternately appearing in opposite benefic quarters, every species of crop will thrive.
english translation
yadA tu vidyutaH zreSThAH zubhAzAH pratyupasthitAH । tadApi sarvasasyAnAM vRddhiM brUyAdvicakSaNaH ॥ 22-05 ॥
