खसमगधशिबिरगिरिमिथिलसमतटौड्राश्ववदनदन्तुरकाः । प्राग्ज्योतिषलौहित्यक्षीरोदसमुद्रपुरुषादाः ॥ १४-०६ ॥

The Khasas, the Magadhas, the Śibiras, the mountain-folk; Mithilā, the Samataṭas, the Oḍras, the Aśvavadanas, and the Danturakas; Prāgjyotiṣa, the Lauhitya (Brahmaputra), the Kṣīroda Ocean, and the Puruṣādas.

The Udayagiri mountains; the Bhadragas, the Gauḍas, the Pauṇḍras, the Utkalas, the Kāśis, the Mekalas, and the Ambaṣṭhas; Ekapaḍa, Tāmraliptaka, the Kośalakas, and the Vardhamānas as well.

In the south-eastern direction are the Kośalas, the Kaliṅgas, the Vaṅgas, the Upavaṅgas, and the Jaṭharāṅgas; the Śaulikas, the Vidarbhas, the Vatsas, the Andhras, the Chedikas, and the Ūrdhva-kaṇṭhas as well.

The Vṛṣas, the Nālīkēras, and the island-dwellers clad in skins; those who live at the ends of the Vindhya range; the Tripurīs; the bearded people, the Hemakuḍyas, the Vyālagrīvas (‘snake-necked’), and the Mahāgrīvas (‘great-necked’).

Kiṣkindhā; the thorny tracts; the Niṣāda territories; the Purikas and the Dāśārṇas; together with the naked-leaf (scantily clad) Śabaras—these constitute the three regions beginning with Āśleṣā.
