अक्षवेदांशके चैव षष्ट्यंशेऽखिलमीक्षयेत्‌। यत्र कुत्रापि सम्प्राप्तः क्रूरषष्ट्यंशकाधिपः॥ ६॥

तत्र नाशो न सन्दे हो गर्गादीनां वचो यथा। यत्र कुत्रापि सम्प्राप्तः कलांशाधिपतिः शुभः॥ ७॥

The Bhava, whose Lord is in a malefic Shashtiāńś, will diminish; so say Garga and others.

तत्र वृद्धिश्च पुष्टिश्च गर्गादिनां वचो यथा। इति षोडशवर्गाणां भेदास्ते प्रतिपादिताः॥ ८॥

The Bhava, whose Lord is in a benefic Shodashāńś, flourish. This is how the 16 Vargas are to be evaluated.

उदयादिषु भावेषु खेटस्य भवनेषु वा। वर्गविंशोपकं वीक्ष्य ज्ञेयं तेषां शुभाऽशुभम्‌॥ ९॥

अथातः सम्प्रवक्ष्यामि वर्गविंशोपकं बलम्‌। यस्य विज्ञानमार्तेण विपाकं दृष्टिगोचरम्‌॥ १०॥
