पितरश्चन्द्रहोरेशा देवाः सूर्यस्य कीर्तिताः। राशेरर्द्धं भवेद्धोरा ताश्चतुर्विंशतिः स्मृता। मेषादि तासां होराणां परिवृत्तिद्वयं भवेत्‌॥ ६॥

Rāśi and Horā. The Rāśi, owned by a Grah, is called its Kshetra. The first half of an odd Rāśi is the Hora, ruled by Sūrya. While the second half is the Hora of Candr. The reverse is true in the case of an even Rāśi. Half of a Rāśi is called Hora. These are totally 24

pitarazcandrahorezA devAH sUryasya kIrtitAH। rAzerarddhaM bhaveddhorA tAzcaturviMzatiH smRtA। meSAdi tAsAM horANAM parivRttidvayaM bhavet‌॥ 6॥

राशित्रिभागाद्रेष्काणास्ते च षट्‌त्रिंशदीरिताः। परिवृत्तित्रयं तेषां मेषादेः क्रमशो भवेत्‌॥ ७॥

counted from Mesh and repeated twice (at the rate of 12) in the whole of the zodiac. Dreshkan. One third of a Rāśi is called Dreshkan. These are totally 36, counted from Mesh, repeating thrice at the rate of 12 per round.

स्वपंचनवमानां च राशीनां क्रमशश्च ते। नारदाऽगस्तिदुर्वासा द्रेष्काणेशाश्चरादिषु॥ ८॥

The 1st, 5th and the 9th Rāśis from a Rāśi are its three Dreshkanas and are, respectively, lorded by Narada, Agasthya and Durvash.

स्वर्क्षादिकेन्द्रपतयस्तुर्यांशेशाः क्रियादिषु। सनकश्च सनन्दश्च कुमारश्च सनातनः॥ ९॥

Chaturthāńś. The Lords of the 4 Kendras from a Rāśi are the rulers of respective Chaturthāńś of a Rāśi, commencing from Mesh. Each Chaturthāńś is one fourth of a Rāśi. The deities, respectively, are Sanak, Sanand, Kumar and Sanatan.

सप्तांशपास्त्वोजगृहे गणनीया निजेशतः। युग्मराशौ तु विज्ञेयाः सप्तमर्क्षादिनायकात्‌॥ १०॥

Saptāńś. The Saptāńś (one seventh of a Rāśi) counting commences from the same Rāśi in the case of an odd Rāśi. It is from the seventh Rāśi thereof, while an even Rāśi is considered.
