सूर्य नत्वा ग्रहपतिं जगदुत्पत्तिकारणम् । वक्ष्यामि वेदनयनं यथा ब्रह्ममुखाच्छ्रुतम् ॥ ६ ॥
Praying Lord Brahma and Śrī Sarasvatī, his power (and consort) and Sūrya, the leader of the Grahas and the cause of Creation, I shall proceed to narrate to you the science of Jyotish, as heard through Lord Brahma.
english translation
sUrya natvA grahapatiM jagadutpattikAraNam । vakSyAmi vedanayanaM yathA brahmamukhAcchrutam ॥ 6 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptशान्ताय गुरुभक्ताय सर्वदा सत्यवादिने । आस्तिकाय प्रदतव्यं ततः श्रेयो ह्यवाप्स्यति ॥ ७ ॥
Only good will follow the teaching of this Vedic Science to the students, who are peacefully disposed, who honour the preceptors (and elders), who speak only truth and are godfearing.
english translation
zAntAya gurubhaktAya sarvadA satyavAdine । AstikAya pradatavyaM tataH zreyo hyavApsyati ॥ 7 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptन देयं परशिष्याय नास्तिकाय शठय वा । दत्ते प्रतिदिनं दुःखं जायते नात्र संशयः ॥ ८ ॥
Woeful forever, doubtlessly, will it be to impart knowledge of this science to an unwilling student, to a heterodox and to a crafty person.
english translation
na deyaM paraziSyAya nAstikAya zaThaya vA । datte pratidinaM duHkhaM jAyate nAtra saMzayaH ॥ 8 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptएकोऽव्यक्तात्मको विष्णुरनादिः प्रभुरीश्वरः । शुद्धसत्वो जगत्स्वामी निर्गुणस्त्रिगुणान्वितः ॥ ९ ॥
Śrī Vishnu, who is the Lord (of all matters), who has undefiled spirit, who is endowed with the three Gunas, although he transcends the grip of Gunas (Gunatita),

eko'vyaktAtmako viSNuranAdiH prabhurIzvaraH । zuddhasatvo jagatsvAmI nirguNastriguNAnvitaH ॥ 9 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptसंसारकारकः श्रीमान्निमित्तात्मा प्रतापवान् । एकांशेन जगत्सर्व सृजत्यवति लीलया ॥ १० ॥
who is the Author of this Universe, who is glorious, who is the Cause and who is endowed with valour, has no beginning. He authored the Universe and administers it with a quarter of his power.

saMsArakArakaH zrImAnnimittAtmA pratApavAn । ekAMzena jagatsarva sRjatyavati lIlayA ॥ 10 ॥
