आब्रह्मभुवनाल्लोकाः पुनरावर्तिनोऽर्जुन । मामुपेत्य तु कौन्तेय पुनर्जन्म न विद्यते ॥ ८-१६॥
O Arjuna, all the worlds together with the world of Brahma are subject to return. But, O kauntey, there is no rebirth after reaching Me.
english translation
हे अर्जुन ! ब्रह्मलोकतक सभी लोक पुनरावर्ती है; परन्तु हे कौन्तेय ! मुझे प्राप्त होनेपर पुनर्जन्म नहीं होता। क्योंकि मैं कालातीत हूँ और ये सब ब्रम्हादि के लोक काल के द्वारा सीमित होने से अनित्य हैं ।

सहस्रयुगपर्यन्तमहर्यद् ब्रह्मणो विदुः । रात्रिं युगसहस्रान्तां तेऽहोरात्रविदो जनाः ॥ ८-१७॥
Those people who know the day of Bramha which is of a duration of a thousand Yugas (ages) and the night which is also of a thousand Yugas duration, they know day and night.
english translation
(सत्य, त्रेता, द्वापर और कलि--मृत्युलोकके इन चार युगोंको एक चतुर्युगी कहते हैं। ऐसी एक हजार चतुर्युगी बीतनेपर ब्रह्माजीका एक दिन होता है और एक हजार चतुर्युगी बीतनेपर ब्रह्माजीकी एक रात होती है ।) जो मनुष्य ब्रह्माजीके दिन और रातको जाननेवाले हैं, वे मनुष्य इस प्रकार कालके तत्त्वको जाननेवाले हैं।

अव्यक्ताद् व्यक्तयः सर्वाः प्रभवन्त्यहरागमे । रात्र्यागमे प्रलीयन्ते तत्रैवाव्यक्तसंज्ञके ॥ ८-१८॥
With the coming of day all manifested things emerge from the Unmanifest and when night comes they merge in that itself which is called the Unmanifested.
english translation
ब्रह्माजीके दिनके आरम्भकालमें अव्यक्त- (ब्रह्माजीके सूक्ष्म-शरीर-) से सम्पूर्ण प्राणी पैदा होते हैं और ब्रह्माजीकी रातके आरम्भकालमें उसी अव्यक्तमें सम्पूर्ण प्राणी लीन हो जाते हैं।

भूतग्रामः स एवायं भूत्वा भूत्वा प्रलीयते । रात्र्यागमेऽवशः पार्थ प्रभवत्यहरागमे ॥ ८-१९॥
This same multitude of beings, being born again and again, is dissolved, helplessly, O Partha (into the Unmanifested) at the coming of the night and comes forth at the coming of the day.
english translation
हे पार्थ ! वही यह प्राणिसमुदाय उत्पन्न हो-होकर प्रकृतिके परवश हुआ ब्रह्माके दिनके समय उत्पन्न होता है और ब्रह्माकी रात्रिके समय लीन होता है।

परस्तस्मात्तु भावोऽन्योऽव्यक्तोऽव्यक्तात्सनातनः । यः स सर्वेषु भूतेषु नश्यत्सु न विनश्यति ॥ ८-२०॥
But verily there exists, higher than this Unmanifested , another unmanifested Eternal, which is not destroyed when all beings are destroyed.
english translation
परन्तु उस अव्यक्त- (ब्रह्माजीके सूक्ष्म-शरीर-) से अन्य अनादि सर्वश्रेष्ठ भावरूप जो अव्यक्त है, उसका सम्पूर्ण प्राणियोंके नष्ट होनेपर भी नाश नहीं होता।
