प्राप्य पुण्यकृतां लोकानुषित्वा शाश्वतीः समाः । शुचीनां श्रीमतां गेहे योगभ्रष्टोऽभिजायते ॥ ६-४१ ॥

sanskrit

Attaining the worlds of the righteous, and residing there for eternal years, the man fallen from Yoga is born in the house of the pious and the prosperous.

prApya puNyakRtAM lokAnuSitvA zAzvatIH samAH | zucInAM zrImatAM gehe yogabhraSTo'bhijAyate || 6-41 ||

hk transliteration

अथवा योगिनामेव कुले भवति धीमताम् । एतद्धि दुर्लभतरं लोके जन्म यदीदृशम् ॥ ६-४२ ॥

sanskrit

Or he is born in a family of even the wise Yogis; verily a birth like this is very difficult to obtain in this world.

athavA yoginAmeva kule bhavati dhImatAm | etaddhi durlabhataraM loke janma yadIdRzam || 6-42 ||

hk transliteration

तत्र तं बुद्धिसंयोगं लभते पौर्वदेहिकम् । यतते च ततो भूयः संसिद्धौ कुरुनन्दन ॥ ६-४३ ॥

sanskrit

There he becomes endowed with that wisdom acquired in the previous body. and he strives more than before for perfection, O scion of the Kuru dynasty.

tatra taM buddhisaMyogaM labhate paurvadehikam | yatate ca tato bhUyaH saMsiddhau kurunandana || 6-43 ||

hk transliteration

पूर्वाभ्यासेन तेनैव ह्रियते ह्यवशोऽपि सः । जिज्ञासुरपि योगस्य शब्दब्रह्मातिवर्तते ॥ ६-४४ ॥

sanskrit

By the power of his earlier practice, he is carried forward even against his will. Even he who merely wishes to know Yoga transcends the result of the performance of Vedic rituals! and goes beyond the Bramhic word.

pUrvAbhyAsena tenaiva hriyate hyavazo'pi saH | jijJAsurapi yogasya zabdabrahmAtivartate || 6-44 ||

hk transliteration

प्रयत्नाद्यतमानस्तु योगी संशुद्धकिल्बिषः । अनेकजन्मसंसिद्धस्ततो याति परां गतिम् ॥ ६-४५ ॥

sanskrit

But the Yogi who strives with assiduity, purified of sins and perfected gradually through many births, reaches the highest goal (Param-gati).
